STATE OF THE ART EXPERIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOR A RAPID FUNCTIONAL REHABILITATION

The Hand Surgery team of the Clinica San Francesco carries out in Verona about 1.000 operations per year for all the main diseases of upper limb and became with years a point of reference for patients and sector professionals. The Veronese facility received several recognitions for its clinic and scientific activity both nationally and internationally.

The Clinic, in collaboration with the Italian Hand Surgery Society (SICM – Società Italiana della Chirurgia della Mano), develops numerous research projects that result in qualitative standard of excellence for providing of diagnostic and therapeutic services for pathologies which need hand surgery.

The procedure (endoscopic instruments and state of the art fluoroscopy) allows to carry out minimally invasive and arthroscopic operations on hand small joints, included the ligamentous reconstructions and the conservative articular prosthesis implants. With these techniques is possible to obtain a greater treatment efficacy, a quicker functional recovery of limb and a more rapid return to job activity. Reabsorbable materials, titanium, other metal alloy, mini-fixator and specific plaques for every compartment are used for the synthesis of fractures.

Surgical treatment for hand diseases

The Hand Surgery team of the Clinica San Francesco is specialized in the following pathologies:

  • trigger finger
  • rhizarthrosis
  • Dupuytren’s disease
  • hand arthroscopy
  • hand neoplasms and benign tumors
  • hand reconstructive microsurgery
  • hand reconstructive plastic flaps
  • ganglion cyst
  • hand traumatology

The hand arthroscopic surgery assures rapid results with very small complications, even in cases scarcely explorable until a few years ago and carrying not satisfying outcomes. This has been possible thanks to the continuous technological evolution of surgical instruments and to the study of new minimally invasive procedures for hand surgery.

Hand postoperative antalgic treatment

In more complex hand surgery operations (fractures or stiff joints) is provided a constant support of an anesthetist who takes care of prevention and treatment of prosthetic painful symptomatology, turning to the most innovative procedures and the use of state of the art drugs.
